Dreamy

I love being married to a photographer. Some of my favorite shots are of him shooting. Andy gets so involved with what he is doing he doesn't even notice he is the subject of my photo shoot. Over the years I had gathered a collection of these pictures. I think Andy is Dreamy!

Puppy Love

In Dyea we went to dog camp. There were puppies 6 weeks old and 24 hours old. Andy took the kids in the pin with the puppies. My kids want a dog. It will happen some day (after I get a house).  Harrison thought it was so funny when they pulled on him. These are the best shots I got with 3 busy kids and very busy puppies! Lily took the picture of the puppy eating the fence.

My Love

A wonderful day spent in Dyea ended with this. I had my camera & Andy had his. Before we headed for home we had Harrison take a picture of us. I love where we live! I LOVE my best friend & husband, Andy!

Home of the North Wind

The native word Skagway translates to "Home of the north wind". It can get super crazy! I have seen 60 mile an hour winds blow through here. On nice windy days we like to fly kites at
 7 Pastures.

Preview of 4th

I try to take a 4th of july picture every of the kids. We went to take pictures the other day and Andy's camera battery was dead. With my point & shoot we got this 1 picture. What do you think? Should I try for a better one? ( I will crop it before I send it out)

The beach

This is an Alaska beach. We live very close to the water front. The kids and I went for a hike there and ran into some friends and made the trek with them. We hiked to the point and then followed the shore line to a flat beach. The kids kept busy exploring the rocks & collecting bugs out of the sand. I am note sure what they were. On the hike back Lily was a little nervous about bears. There is a sow and 3 cubs in the area. There were so many of us, they would have heard us coming a mile away. I loved watching the kids explore. I pray they always explore this God given world.

Lower Lake

One day last week we hiked to Lower Dewey Lake with some friends. It is a big up & the kids did great! When we got there we ate our picnic lunch. Then off to explore the water. I turned around and Isaac had decided he was hot, took his clothes off, and was going for a swim. I laughed so hard. The others kids thought it was a great idea too. Soon all the kids were following Isaac's lead. The swimming consisted of getting in the water up to their shins. Not the swimming we had in AZ. I guess that is what you get with  a glacier fed lake. On the way down the boys ran. We got to wave to the steam engine passing. All for a fun filled day in Skagway. One of those days I am reminded why we live here.

A side note- when we are playing outside, exploring, & hiking the kids do not fight! I ask myself "why do I not do this every day?"

Happy

I cut these AMAZING lilacs out of a friends yard. These HUGE bushes can be seen (and smelled) all around Skagway in June. The colors sprinkle the yards in purple and white. I want to have these fresh cut flowers every week in my house. They make me HAPPY.

Garden Update

Here are a few pictures of our up and coming garden. The yard is really coming along. Andy built a bike rack for us out of a old fence.  He also mowed giving me a yard that is pleasing to look at. I love to go outside, lay on the hammock, look at the clouds and feel either the wind or sun on my face. The kids have taken ownership of pieces of the garden. Lily planted the nasturshums in a little red wagon. She waters and weeds it. She got so excited when the little green plants started showing out of the dirt. This week I told her the leaves are edible. Harrison has owned the strawberries. He looks at them every day. It has been fun to share the growing with him. We take a close look and count the flowers to see how many berries we will get. Isaac does not have a plant yet. I think I will give the potatoes. They are still not planted yet. I think tomorrow. My goal is to get 100 spuds in the fall. Outside of Lily's play house we put 2 green cabbages. I am told they will get bigger than the pot. I will keep you posted!

When he was sleeping

Yesterday at church a man asked Harrison about his family. Harrison told him he had a sister & brother that were twins. The man asked him how that happened? Harrison said, "I don't know I was sleeping". As Andy and I left church the man told us to remember what happens when the kids are sleeping. I guess that is how you get twins!

Cousins

We love living so close to family. For those of you who do not know we live in the apartment on my brothers house. It is a small 1 bed room with the best neighbors and cheapest rent in town! One of the bet parts about living here is the cousins get to play together all the time. Last week Lily got dressed and then went next door to see "the cousins". She came back with Piper who had gotten dressed to match Lily. I LOVE these outfits! This woman from CA makes them out of vintage table cloths! It is called Poppylarity.  They are to die for and all 3 girls have her outfits.

Fun with Ms. Phun!

Harrison just finished the first grade! Can you believe he is 7 yrs old!? On the last day of school I wanted to get a picture of him and his AMAZING teacher Ms. Phun. Harrison wanted the shot to be outside. As we followed him out the exit he continued walking, to the playground. I asked him where he wanted the picture taken. Without a second thought he instructed his teacher to hang from the top bar then he did the same from the lower bar. He made sure to tell her to pick up her feet. This describes Harrison very well. We thank you Miss Phun for helping mold our child and his creativity! We love you (and your cute apple print skirt).
